Cash-and-Carry Leaf Base

Ergomotion’s Leaf adjustable base epitomizes the ease of use and versatility for which the company is known. Complete with wireless remote, head and foot controls, multiple pre-sets) Zero G, Flat and programmable pre-sets), this sporty motion base is lightweight and can be shipped in a single box.

Serving the dual purpose of motion base and bed frame, the Leaf can be assembled in under 30 minutes. In addition to its numerous features, consumers will appreciate the motion base’s silent drive motor benefit, gravity release, bump guard and the system’s standby power system, which protects from power outages.

Ergomotion at High Point Market

As one of the few exclusively adjustable bed base manufacturers still showing at the High Point Market, Ergomotion said its focus for the market is to increase the number of furniture retailers who are adding this fast-growing product segment to their floors. Keenly aware of the challenges that technical adjustable base products can pose, Ergomotion now offers a number of support services that streamline post-sale logistics for its retail partners. In addition to emphasizing its portfolio of adjustable bases, the brand will also showcase this new comprehensive support program at the spring High Point Market.

Motion Bedroom Furniture

At the spring High Point Market, Ergomotion will spotlight its Motion Bedroom Furniture, which delivers adjustability to any bed with its slim, zero-clearance design. An easy addition to the bedroom displays in a retail showroom, Motion Bedroom Furniture does not require additional floor space to deliver seamless add-on sales. Ergomotion’s three-model Element collection, part of the Motion Bedroom Furniture offering, provides a variety of functionality typically found in more traditional adjustable bases. Element is fully equipped with USB ports, auto head tilt, preset zero-gravity, massage, head-and-foot articulation, wireless remote and more. The other models have a variety of the features, and each of the designs have the company’s quiet, silent-drive motors, power outage protection and gravity release.

Gui Peres on Adjustables

“Adjustable bed bases are highly technical and are designed and engineered with a variety of moving components and motors,” explained Gui Peres, Ergomotion Director of Global Sales. “They are very different from most products in furniture showrooms that are mostly static. We’re the experts in set up, training and should it be needed, warranty repair. Those details aren’t the responsibility of our retail partners.”

Ergomotion's Resource Center

At the winter Las Vegas Market, Ergomotion touted its marketing and point-of-purchase support benefits through Club Ergomotion. By handling all post-sale logistical details, the brand has significantly enhanced its benefits program for Club Ergomotion participants. The addition of hands-off, white glove delivery service and set up plus warranty services allows retail partners to focus on sales while their customers enjoy a seamless fulfillment experience.

“We are committed partners with our network of retailers and by taking away their need to create marketing collateral, deal with warranties after a sale and conduct sales training, we lift the weight of the peripheral activities so that they are free to concentrate on their consumers and growing sales,” Peres said.

Built on the premise that luxury sleep is achieved through style and substance, the company incorporates technology where it makes sense. Just as Ergomotion’s adjustable bases are designed to accommodate the industry’s leading mattresses and integrate with existing bed frames and beds, the brand seamlessly backs its partners with its portfolio of integrated support benefits.

Ergomotion Aims to Relieve Retail "Pinch Points"

The Pinch Points

In a step designed to remove what it calls “the pinch points” of selling more advanced sleep technology, adjustable bed base producer Ergomotion has created a package of post-consumer-sale services.

The services, designed to take the burden of delivery, set up and service away from retailers, will be unveiled in the company’s International Home Furnishings Center showroom, M-636.

Adjustable bed bases are among the industry’s most technical products and can present a variety of challenges to retailers.

With Ergomotion’s commitment to service and partnership, the company is aiming to remove those challenges and allow retailers to focus on running their business, officials said.

Club Ergo

In addition to marketing point-of-purchase support through its Club Ergomotion loyalty program, which offers marketing support and insider deals, partnership benefits include access to Ergomotion’s hand-off, after-the-sale service of white glove delivery to consumers, the company’s management of any warranty issues directly with consumers, and a network of sales trainers, the company said.

A Different Type of Partnership

By freeing retailers of those needs, Ergomotion is helping them focus on other issues.

“We are committed partners with our network of retailers,” Peres said, “and by taking away their need to create marketing collateral, deal with warranties after a sale and conduct sales training, we lift the weight of the peripheral activities so that they are free to concentrate on their consumers and growing sales.”

“Adjustable bed bases are highly technical and are designed and engineered with a variety of moving components and motors,” said Gui Peres, director of global sales for Ergomotion.

“They are very different from most products in furniture showrooms that are mostly static. We’re the experts in set up, training and, should it be needed, warranty repair. Those things aren’t the responsibility of our retail partners.”

Selling Adjustable Beds 101

Author: Ergomotion

March 26, 2018

Initial Steps

In a recent article from Furniture Today, Ergomotion’s Account Specialist, Ryan King offers techniques for selling adjustable bases. King discusses how to initiate the sale and the importance of demonstrating the product. Two excerpts from the article “9 Basics for Making a Sale“, provide insider tips to furniture and bedding retailers.

Planting the Seed

Some RSAs like to introduce the option of an adjustable bed early on, so the consumer can factor it into their sleep system decisions right from the start. Others prefer to focus first on finding the right mattress and pillows for the consumer, then introducing the option of an adjustable base as an additional way to enhance the sleep experience.

In either approach, the demo is the key element. For Ryan King, account manager, bedding for Ergomotion’s Eastern U.S. channel, the prime time to introduce the subject of adjustable beds – which he prefers to call “‘motion bases” or “lifestyle bases” – is early In the mattress sales pitch. A lot or RSAs think about motion base as an attachment or an accessory and wait until the end of the sale to bring it up.

A better approach, says King, is to position the motion base as another integral element for the consumer to consider as they shop to find the right sleep system for their sleep, lifestyle and health needs. That puts the adjustable base on equal footing with the mattress as a means of achieving quality sleep. If an RSA at least mentions an adjustable at the beginning of the conversation, King said, the stage is set easily for exploring the topic in more depth later. Additionally, pricing often becomes less of an issue.

“When I was selling at retail, I liked to greet the consumer by saying something like this: b”How long has It been since you’ve shopped for a mattress'” said King. If the answer is eight to 15 or more years, as it is for most consumers, King would say, “That’s a long time. A lot has changed during that period. Let me show you how the world is sleeping today.” At that point, after asking a few other basic qualifying questions about sleep habits and needs, the RSA should take the consumer to one of the store’s premium sleep systems, with an adjustable base and quality mattress, and begin the testing the process.

The Power of the Demo

Once the consumer is lying down, the RSA has a golden opportunitiy to quickly demonstrate the advantages of a power base. The RSA can ask questions such as “What do you do for a living?”, King suggested. “Whatever their response, they are likely to say they have some tension in their necks or back or achiness in their legs or feet.”

Armed with that information, the RSA can then show the consumer how a power base can be precisely adjusted to reduce pressure and deliver relief. Putting the consumer in the “zero gravity” position – with the body at a 120-degree angle and knees slightly raised – is the most effecitve way to bring an adjustable bed’s benefits quickly to life.

“I would ask them to close their eyes and relax as I adjust the surface, and to tell me when the tension in their lower back goes away. Once they feel that change, and then go back to lying flat, a traditional foundation no longer measures up.”

When showing adjustables, King recommends RSAs provide the consumers with three good-better-best options, stating:

Starting with the “best”, [allows the consumer] to see the range of features available. Then, if there are features they don’t want, or the price isn’t right, show them a few other options in the good-better range.

RSA Training Series

Ryan discusses this topic in depth with colleague Paris Fealy in Ergomotion’s RSA Training Series on YouTube. The audio portion of this series is also available on Ergomotion’s DreamTech Radio Podcast.

Ergomotion Continues to Expand, Introducing New Product Lines

Author: Furniture Today

Date: March 26, 2018

Ergomotion Repositions its Bases

Ergomotion is aiming to redefine the adjustable bed base category with the introduction of three new product categories, none of which use the term “adjustable” in their titles.

Ergomotion officials state that the new categories — Motion Bedroom Furniture, Active Motion Bases and Sport Motion Bases — are designed with purpose directed to retailers.

All three collections were created to empower retailers to deliver more personalized and customized adjustable base experiences to their customers.

The Motion Bedroom category is one of three Ergomotion uses to identify the adjustable bed bases.

Shifting the Adjustable Bed Base Conversation

Ergomotion executives say the new branding initiatives help the retailer change the conversation with the customer from:

Is an adjustable right for you”? to “Which adjustable base is right for you?”

Motion Bedroom Furniture’s flagship product is the Element, which the company says is “barely the height of a playing card” and fits between the mattress and the base.

Innovative Product Lines

Active Motion Bases are led by Ergomotion’s Contour series. Those bases feature proprietary Extension Deck technology and offer a way to personalize and customize the adjustable base experience, officials said.

The Leaf is Ergomotion’s flagship Sport Motion base, and like sport cars, these bases are “sporty.” The Leaf is a DIY, cash-and-carry solution — an adjustable base in a box solution — that will fit in the back of most SUVs.

The Outlook for Adjustable Bed Bases in 2018

Author: David Perry

Date: March 26, 2018

Strong Sales Growth with Adjustable Beds

Leading adjustable bed base suppliers see a strongth growth year for their category in 2018.

The producers cite a long list of reasons for their optimistic predictions, including a track record of growth in the category in recent years, growth in existing and new distribution channels, rising attachment rates on retail floors and more awareness of the category by retail sales associates

Functional Features Drive Interest

A number of the producers say the strength of entry-level adjustable bed bases should boost overall unit sales this year, a development they expect to decrease the average unit selling price.

They also cite strong interest in their introductions at the January Las Vegas Market, robust results in the category by leading retailers, and the addition of new, functional features as setting the stage for more growth this year.

New Channels Opening for Growth

Ergomotion’s Director of Global Sales, Gui Peres, comments on the category expansion:

“As has been the case with the past few years, the adjustable bed category will continue to experience strong growth throughout the market. The large mattress manufacturers continue to experience success and growth with their adjustable bed lines, and new channels of growth have presented themselves in the online segment, alternative retail channels and direct to consumer.

In 2018, we will see strong growth for current players, as well as a growing pie for new entrants to the category. It is looking good so far.”
